In three decades of politics, Ilir Meta has profiled himself as a Decemberist. As a student who rose to protests and with his peers at the time and made his contribution to the collapse of the regime.
But the truth seems to be different. After the statement of the file authority, which said that a senior politician with the initials I.M., had cooperated with the security, one of the protagonists of the student protest of those years contacted Voxneës.al and conveyed an even more interesting detail.
"Ilir Meta was not in the December movement, but surprisingly invited to the students' meeting with Brick Alia, which surprised everyone. This file explains why he was there and means that security led him to balance students who were against the government," the source writes.
Ilir Meta himself says that at the meeting in question he feared it might be a trap.
What I remember most is the moment to go to the meeting, because there was a general idea that could be a trap. So as a guarantee, to have a calm and psychological relief, along with the students, on the bus to the Brigade Palace, came as guarantors Mr. Gjinushi, Minister of Education and Mr. Bafebruary, First Youth Secretary at the time. So the first was the uncertainty of what's going to happen," he said in a television interview.
More as part of the students, after the Authority file and after voxnea's resource statement, Ilir Meta was with the Decemberists as the mastermind of the trap and moreover appears in filming from the time after Azem Iika.
In the same interview, 30 years later, Ilir Meta is unable to talk about the demands that Azem Iika and the students presented to Brick Alia.
"yes, I think something like that was agreed. It was discussed on the issue of pluralisation, because this had already returned to the main demand and it is understood that this was the main platform. He (Brick Alia) just came out of the Central Committee plenium," Meta says.
And although he was neither nor later known as the protagonist of that movement, Ilir Meta confesses to having talked to Brick Alia.
"From what I talked to Brick Alia afterwards, even after 10 years or in later periods I think he was aware that it was a process that should happen. Did he want to have the process under control as much as possible? Obviously he did, but he was looking at the forces report and adapting to that situation," Meta adds.
Now, after the Authority's dossier, doubts arise that more than Decemberist Ilir Meta has been part of Brick Ali's scenario to control the student movement, a task that if Brick were alive today and saw that he had managed to take his place as President, he could feel proud of him.
