One September night, almost 30 years ago, Hadi was killed in an ambush. They say that Hassan Nasrallah locked himself in a room, without saying a word. He stayed there until dawn. Then he came out and just said: "I am happy to have become the father of a martyr."

A few days later, the Israelis sent him photos of the dead boy and proposed an exchange for the bodies of some soldiers: "Hold on," was the reply, "we have many more Hadis ready to join the fight."

If it's true that the most dangerous people are those who only have one idea in their head, beneath the Lebanese man's large turban lies a dangerous mind like few others.

The supreme leader of the Party of Allah, Hezbollah, is a much bigger problem than Hamas. At the time of Hadi's death, Nasrallah was little more than a 30-year-old in the Shiite nomenclature.

But from the Holy Word that he already preached on TV Al-Manar, he did not deviate with a surah: “We will never accept that Israel exists. The reason for our existence is that Israel does not exist."

In these 20 years as a leader, Nasrallah has prayed a lot. And he worked even harder. Today, the result is also recognized by the Israeli Little Satan: "Let's prepare - warned the Minister of Defense, Yoav Galant, in front of Joe Biden - these people of Hezbollah are 10 times stronger than Hamas."

20,000 fighters and so many reservists, but there are those who talk about 60,000, even 100,000 men available. A real army, funded by Iran to the tune of $700 million a year.

An arsenal of Sa-6 anti-aircraft missiles, Katyusha-2 missiles and Fajr missiles capable of hitting Haifa and beyond. Then come the deadly Iranian drones, already seen in action in Ukraine, and tanks, special forces, kamikazes.

Hezbollah's counter-espionage is also considered among the most efficient in the Middle East: it was demonstrated in the assassination of Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, by shooting down satellites by remote control from Tel Aviv, and by repelling 40,000 Israelis who entered Lebanon in 2006.

Hezbollah is a state within the Lebanese state. It relies on the well-being and great popular consensus, on the support of Syria and Russia. "But what we have is faith", Commander Fieddine's motto.

No one knows how much Hezbollah wants to intervene. Israel Defense Forces leaders are divided. Some expect a rain of rockets, some expect the reappearance of new tunnels like those discovered in 2019. Others expect Iran to burn resources for Gaza that it would more willingly allocate to the Syrian or Yemeni causes.

Hamas leaders complain that they feel abandoned by their Shia brothers in the north and do not consider the rockets fired in Metulla, the anti-tank buildings, the 12 dead since October 7, the infiltration attempts, the popular protests...

Hezbollah has always been prone to issuing declarations of war, but for now it is silent. It is better not to wake up some kindred duties, the Americans think, and that is why Biden asked Netanyahu to avoid a direct clash in the North as well.

"In the war in Syria in 2017, I wondered why we didn't attack Hezbollah. They were in trouble. Many killed or wounded, Nasrallah who was challenged by his own people. We had a great opportunity. We would have paid a high price, of course. But we have been paying for it since 2006: Hezbollah's missiles are increasingly sophisticated. Instead nothing was done. Today, that year 2017 is far away. And here we are in the corner".

This is how Ariel Kahana, an Israeli correspondent, described the current situation. According to Kahana, what needs to be understood is that "you have to hit them first if you don't want them to hit you, because their objective is now clear: to destroy us, they want to conquer us".
