Attacks on the media cannot solve President Meta's problems

Note: Ilir Meta is counting the days in the Presidency, before starting what he calls "a new dawn" on July 25. But, even in the last days at the head of this institution, he is accompanying them with attitudes and statements that have accompanied his five-year presidency.

This time, Meta (through his spokesman) targeted journalists and the media. Reason? An exclusive article of Voxnews.al built on the basis of a report of the State Information Service and sources of journalists.

But, instead of clarifying all the doubts raised in the SHISH report about the presidential spy, who gave information to an agent of an unfriendly country, the President, through the spokesperson, dealt with the informant, as he has done every time the media has denounced the scandals that accompanied him in his political career.

With a mountain of denunciations and files in SPAK, with accusations of major corruption and the "gong" of being declared non grata from across the Atlantic, the attack on the media and journalists with "disgusting" terms is the last thing that serves the President to close the "adventure" ' 5 years in the Presidency with some dignity.

The advisers (among them the one who is suspected in the SHISH report as a spy for foreign agencies) know this, and may have advised the President himself to avoid reactions regarding this report of the intelligence service.

However, throwing stones at media journalists through the spokesperson cannot hide the real hand behind it, while the reaction itself shows that Ilir Meta's presidential twilight is not as peaceful as he is trying to present it to the public.

The problems can be several, from SPAK files, accusations of lobbying with corruption money in the USA, unjustified expenses, attitudes against justice reform and up to the most common 'accusations' of bargains with the builders of a palace next to the Presidency.

With all these files, accusations and scandals on his back, the President probably feels that after July 25 a difficult period awaits him, perhaps even survival in politics. For these reasons, the media itself must be prepared for his attacks to intensify after he leaves the door of the Presidency and there is no longer any institutional or constitutional obstacle to unleash his language against them...not that he was spared much during the 5th term - year old.
