Two ministers, two standards: The difference between Christine Lambrecht and Olta Xhaçka

The German Minister of Defense, Christine Lambrecht, has today offered her resignation to Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

Criticism of her was sparked by her New Year's speech, in which she said the conflict between Moscow and Kiev had left a great 'impression' on her and allowed her to meet many 'interesting and great people'. Her speech was immediately criticized as 'embarrassing' and 'inappropriate'.

Leaders of the largest opposition bloc then accused Scholz of making Lambrecht defense minister further weakening the German Armed Forces, which have faced personnel shortages and equipment malfunctions for years.

Lambrecht's tenure as defense minister also saw another scandal involving military equipment. In December, Germany announced it would halt the procurement of the country's modern Puma infantry fighting vehicles due to numerous malfunctions.

But these "scandals" that led to the resignation of the German Minister of Defense are nothing compared to her former Albanian counterpart, Olta Xhaçka, who now holds the position of Foreign Minister, who also had many scandals in this position. But Xhaçka, on the contrary, never even thought of resigning, and even attacked the media to justify himself.

The issue of her mandate has ended in the Constitutional Court. The opposition has argued in the request to the Constitutional Court that the mandate of the deputy of the Socialist Party, Olta Xhaçka, is invalid because her husband has benefited from public property by being declared a strategic investor by the Committee headed by Prime Minister Edi Rama. The company that will build a luxury resort on the south coast, has received from the government a beach in Dhërmi for use for 30 years. Referring to the law on the conflict of interest, the democratic deputies bring as an argument that the benefits from the public property of the spouse of the minister Rama are the same as if they were registered in the name of the minister herself. Therefore, according to them, the Constitutional Court should decide on the removal of the mandate of MP Olta Xhaçka.

But not only that. Olta Xhaçka was denounced by the show "Piranjat" for using state cars for private services to her family members. While several times in the media and social networks have circulated videos of her when she was Minister of Defense traveling by military helicopter for electoral purposes.

Olta Xhaçka will also go down in history for the role she 'took' from the US State Department, when she declared that the mandate of Ambassador Yuri Kim was over. This intentional blunder of the Foreign Minister raised concerns and caused reactions, even from international ones.

With this comparison, it is understood why our country is not ready to become part of the European Union. We will be ready when we apply German standards and not only in Albanian politics./ VoxNews
