Sali Berisha appeared at the traditional year-end conference with journalists as the leader of the opposition, Edi Rama sent a congratulatory video message on December 31, while he had earlier announced through social networks the package of 8 billion lek as direct financial aid for 1 million Albanians.

The only one who avoided public appearances in the last days of last year was Ilir Meta. In half of 2022, he was the President of the Republic and in the other half, the leader of the Freedom Party, which he founded from LSI after handing over the Presidency on July 24.

However, Meta avoided both journalists and screens at the end of 2022. He did not take stock of the year's achievements as President, and then as chairman of the Freedom Party, nor did he come out to talk about the objectives set in 2023, so rather that this is an election year.

The head of the Freedom Party still has time to talk about the objectives, as the year has just started. But the balance of 2022 may pass in silence. The year ended with the news of the departure of one of the four deputies that Meta's party has in the Parliament and with the return of accusations of a secret pact between him and Arben Ahmetaj regarding the incinerators file.

After the report to SPAK by journalist Adriatik Doçi, some invoices for Ahmatej were made public showing that he too had benefited financially from Klodian Zoto, owner of the incinerator in Elbasan, denounced to SPAK by LSI and used as a flag in public and in campaigns from this party and its former leader, Monika Kryemadhi.

Meta avoided comments and statements on these bills, while continuing to mention and denounce the issue of incinerators, but without mentioning the name of Arben Ahmetaj in any case.

However, even before it closed, the balance was not so positive. The "old guard" of Meta's close collaborators in his two governments with Berisha and Rama from 2009 to 2017 left the new party founded in July.

Meta tried, after five years in the turbulent Presidency, to gather around himself in the Freedom Party the 'pieces' separated from LSI after the 2021 parliamentary elections. But, the number of those who responded to the invitation could be counted on the fingers of one hand.
