The Minister of Internal Affairs, Ervin Demo, today introduced the new leadership team that will closely follow developments and reforms in local government, Oltjon Muzaka, deputy minister with responsibility for local government issues, and Anxhela Paparizon, new director of the Agency for Support of Local Self-Government.
Evaluating the challenges facing local government today, Minister Demo emphasized the need for a new pace and standard of work, with a focus on ongoing reforms, fulfilling Chapter 22 obligations, digitalization, strengthening the capacities of municipalities, and improving services for citizens.
Demo also highlighted the importance of translating programs such as the Mountain Package and Urban Renaissance 2.0 into concrete results on the ground, creating more opportunities for communities and a new development profile for cities and rural areas.
"We need stronger coordination, leadership and maximum commitment from the entire team," said Demo, setting as the objective a more capable, more modern and closer to the citizen local government.
