From the 6 billion euros that will be distributed to the countries of the Western Balkans within the Economic Growth Plan of the European Union, Albania is expected to benefit from 922 million euros in total until 2027.
Our country will benefit from about 76 million euros in loans and grants from the European Union until the end of this year, while next year the funding is expected to reach 279 million euros. In 2026, Albania will receive the highest amount in loans and grants, namely 314 million euros, while in 2027, only 251 million euros.
The Economic Growth Plan, which was approved in April of this year, included the preparation of a national reform agenda as a prerequisite for obtaining funding. The Reform Agendas for the countries of the Western Balkans, with the exception of Bosnia and Herzegovina, were officially approved by the European Commission last week, paving the way for the first funding.
In Albania, the Reform Agenda foresees measures related to the improvement of the business climate, human capital, energy and green transition, digital transition and the rule of law.
From the total of 6 billion euros of the Economic Growth Plan, 2 billion will be grants, while 4 billion will be loans. These loans and grants will be given in order to support economic development, encourage investment, create jobs and improve living standards.
And the other countries of the Western Balkans, how much will they benefit?
Bosnia Herzegovina and Serbia are the two countries in the region that will benefit from the most loans and grants from the Economic Growth Plan of the European Union. It is predicted that Serbia will benefit 1.58 billion euros, Bosnia and Herzegovina 969 million, Kosovo almost 888 million euros, while North Macedonia and Montenegro will be given approximately 807 million and 383.5 million euros.
