Tax administration inspectors conducted unannounced inspections this Tuesday at the largest real estate agencies in the country, identifying undeclared employees, unrealistic salaries, lack of invoicing and tax evasion in the sale of apartments.
The General Directorate of Taxes emphasizes that there will be zero tolerance towards informality in construction, and therefore the action will continue without compromise, calling for the declaration of real salaries to avoid administrative and criminal measures.
The first inspections were carried out in 9 real estate agencies and the focus of the inspectors was on verifying the declaration of real salaries of employees, their registration with the tax authority, the realization of sales and the issuance of fiscal invoices.
Tax authorities announce that they have identified serious violations, such as undeclared employees, non-tax documentation, lack of transparency in prices, lack of taxation, and major evasion with the declaration of apartment sales prices.
Based on the evidence collected, including interviews and self-declarations of employees, specialized structures of the AT have also seized the computers of the offices of these agencies, for the purpose of in-depth investigation.
"From the information obtained in the computer units, it results that there is tax evasion regarding the sales prices of apartments," the General Directorate of Taxes said in a statement.
Tax authorities indicate that the action that has just begun is not temporary and will continue with seriousness and determination against any entity that does not reflect real salaries in future payrolls, harming fair competition, pensions and the public interest.
"We invite all taxpayers in the construction field to immediately declare their real salaries, to avoid administrative and criminal measures, provided for by the legislation in force, for acts of concealing income," the announcement states.
