Rising gasoline and oil prices, caused by the war in Iran and concerns over global oil supplies, are pushing European consumers to move away from internal combustion engine cars and invest in electric vehicles, especially used versions, which are more affordable and ready to use immediately.

Online car market analysts say demand for diesel cars is falling sharply. In Norway, platform Finn.no said EVs had overtaken diesels as the best-selling model, while in France, Aramisauto reported that the share of electric car sales had almost doubled in a matter of weeks, from 6.5 percent to 12.7 percent.

Likewise, the Olx platform reported an increase in requests for electric vehicles in France by 50 percent, in Portugal by 54 percent, Romania by 40 percent and Poland by 39 percent, indicating a steady and rapid increase in interest in electric vehicles.

In Sweden, the Blocket platform saw an 11 percent increase in electric car sales, while in Denmark, the Bilbasen platform reported high demand for electric cars, with analysts linking the trend directly to high fuel prices. In Germany, mobile.de said searches for electric cars had tripled since the beginning of March, from 12 percent to 36 percent, and dealers had received 66 percent more inquiries for used electric vehicles than in February.

Industry experts point out that the use of electric cars is also being driven by an expansion of the model range, improved battery certifications and awareness of fuel costs, making the electric vehicle market more reliable and attractive to consumers.

As gasoline prices exceeded 2 euros per liter, many European buyers are turning to more efficient and environmentally friendly solutions, gradually transforming the vehicle market across the continent and sending a clear signal that internal combustion automobiles are losing ground to the 'rise' of electric vehicles.
