Jared Kushner, son-in-law of US President Donald Trump, in his capacity as CEO and founder of "Affinity Partners", was present online at the International Economic Summit being held in Tirana.

Kushner, through a direct connection, described Prime Minister Edi Rama as a great politician.

He emphasizes that this government has changed the living climate and made Albania a safe place to invest.

"Eddie is a very skilled politician, a smart leader. He showed us what an artist can do with a country. They are going to build an airport in Vlora, and this is a very big opportunity to be exploited in the region. I came from the desire to build something unique for the world," said Kushner.

Kushner told the International Economic Forum 'Future Investment Initiative Europe' how he decided to build a $1.4 billion tourist resort on the island of Sazan.

Kushner said that what makes the area where the resort will be built special is precisely nature. And for this reason, Kushner says that they have engaged the best engineers in Europe for the appropriate programs for environmental conservation. Kushner says that the natural beauty is extraordinary and that the location is wonderful because it is in the heart of the Mediterranean. Kushner emphasizes that the project has embraced the local environment and that they will achieve something spectacular.

Kushner: Before we went to Korça, we stopped in Berat, which was a spectacular sight and gave me a sense of the great potential that this country has. There is so much incredible beauty – the water, we swam a lot, we did a lot of hiking. The country has incredible natural beauty, but it seemed like no one knew about it or understood it. I didn't think much about it for a year. Then, about a year later, we started looking at opportunities in the Balkans, and the partner who was leading this initiative said to me, "Let's go to Albania." I had a very good experience there. We went to see if there were any opportunities. We immediately pulled away from where the airport was being built in Vlora. And it's clear that a country that builds an airport by the sea does so in a place that it thinks is the most beautiful. So we went there, we looked for opportunities, and we found some incredible opportunities. It all started from a passion, and from the desire to build something that we think could be truly unique in the world.

QUESTION: You're an expert in understanding governments and trends in different countries. How did you get comfortable in this market? And to date, what's your experience on the ground? Because we've talked a lot about you, but you're the person who's making this happen.

A do të bëjë qeveria atë që premton? A do të marrësh lejet pa “lojëra të pista”? A do t’i mbajnë premtimet? A ndodhën për ju këto?”

Kushner: What makes this area so special is the nature that it has. That's why we've hired one of the best engineers in Europe to help us with the right environmental conservation programs. If we don't respect the environment, the development that we're going to do there won't be special. We have to make sure that we really preserve the environment. There's even a story that says we were blocking a river delta, but that was miles away and had nothing to do with our project. I think we've managed to convince people of that. When we publish the plans, you'll see how we've embraced the local environment and tried to do something that preserves everything. But it's all about the location – 60 miles from Italy, 60 miles from Corfu – and as I said, there's a new airport coming up very close. Only 10 minutes from the project. The natural beauty is extraordinary, the location is wonderful and we're right in the heart of the Mediterranean. But because of the country's bad history until the 1990s, Albania remained underdeveloped. And you don't often get the opportunity to build something new in the Mediterranean, where everything is developed and over-regulated, where nothing can be built anymore. So all of this is coming together, and I think it makes a lot of sense. We've invested a lot of time, effort and capital to move this project forward, and I think we're going to be able to do something spectacular.

QUESTION: Who will be the buyers? Who will be the visitors? How do you hope to attract them?

Kushner: The only one I know for sure is myself, my wife, and my family. So we're designing this place to be a place where we would want to spend our summers. And every time I tell our friends, they say, "We want a place near here too." We're attracting some of the most recognizable brands in the world who want to be a part of this. And I think it's going to be incredible. So we're designing it to be a place where we ourselves would want to spend our summers, and if we do it right, I think a lot of other families will want to have a home there or visit it often.
