Veterinarians are also leaving, the Professional Order of Doctors: To intervene

In the last three years, about 8% of veterinarians have emigrated from the country for the purpose of employment abroad. In total, there are 1,220 veterinarians in the country.

The President of the Professional Order of Veterinarians, Ervin Resuli, in a meeting with journalists, affirmed that the vast majority of veterinarians emigrate to countries such as: England, Germany and Switzerland, due to the ease in recognizing the diploma.

In the last 3 years, an average of 25 to 30 veterinarians per year have left for employment abroad in the veterinary service.

"There are many requests for providing references for the purpose of hiring veterinary doctors to the countries of the European Union. Among the countries where there remains the highest demand for employment are England, Germany and Switzerland, as it is not necessary to count the diploma, Albanian diplomas being recognized".

Resuli recommended that in order to reduce the number of emigrants, Albanian institutions should intervene with incentive measures to increase wages and improve the conditions for the protection of this category during the exercise of the profession. According to him, the salary of veterinarians in state institutions ranges from 60,000 ALL to 78,000 ALL per month.

Despite the decrease in the number of livestock heads, according to Resuli, the country's needs for veterinarians should not exceed the number of over 2,000. Therefore, the increase in quotas for graduates in this profession is not seen as a deterrent to the departure of this category of professionals.

With the Professional Order of Veterinary Doctors, 800 veterinarians are registered out of 1,220, which is their total number, including those employed by state institutions.
