The euro-lek exchange rate will not return to the previous level. This is the forecast of the Bank of Albania, referring to the exchange rate of 1.20-1.30 euro/lek.

In a presentation to the media, the head of the Supervision Department at BSH, Deniz Deralla, said that this is the new trend of the course.

"The volume of the European currency is always growing, and if the growth happens at this rate, the exchange rate cannot be stable. We do not believe we will return to those levels again. This is a new balance," said Deralla.

In the same report, Deralla indicated that the increase in bad loans over the last few months was due to the exchange rate, which devalued the total loan portfolio, increasing the percentage of bad loans, but only as a ratio. In practice, added the head of Supervision, bad loans have decreased.

However, he added that the banks' requests for problem loans have increased, which will later lead to an increase in the provision for these banks.

The meeting also talked about the Supervision Equivalence indicator, which is made by the EU, for the cooperation of institutions with countries aiming for accession, where Albania has not yet been certified because it continues to be on the Money Laundering Gray List.
