The war against Iran and our fandom

Albanians who express themselves in the media and on social networks about the war between the US, Israel and Iran seem to be divided into two camps. One side, which is openly pro-American and Israeli, articulates its support with strong and unreserved language. The other side appears more indirect, declaring itself against the war and its atrocities, but it is not that difficult to discern religious motives behind this humane stance from time to time.

This polarization does not stem from a cold analysis of Albanian interests, but from political, ideological and religious fanaticism. We are dealing more with the venting of passions than with reflection, more with emotional identification than with rational calculation.

If we were to start from the interest of Albania and Albanians here and beyond the borders, the reasonable position would be completely different. Albania is not an exporter of quality oil to sell and benefit from the crisis; on the contrary, it is dependent on imports. Any increase in global prices hits it directly. Our economy is fragile and the risk of inflation is real.

The threat of an economic crisis is a major concern, but this war has brought another danger to the horizon, an existential threat to the Albanian nation and especially to the independence of Kosovo.

Many analysts point out that the war with Iran marks the end of the existing world order and the beginning of a new one. The order was perceived as an architecture of stability, where international law and multilateral institutions were a shield against chaos. Today, with the war in the Middle East and new global tensions, these principles are being openly challenged: sovereignty is violated, territorial integrity is questioned, while the use of force is becoming the norm.

This climate of aggression clearly favors the expansionist goals of Vu?i?'s Serbia, which is arming itself more and more every day and considers the annexation of Kosovo part of its national strategy.

In short, the war in the Persian Gulf is not a spectacle to be watched with applause or scorn; rather, it is a threat that could directly affect not only our daily lives but also the future of the nation.
