The American Embassy in Tirana has reacted after the election of Altin Duman as head of SPAK for the next three years. 

In a post on social networks, the embassy calls for justice institutions to act with integrity, without fear or favor, while assuring that the US will continue to support Justice Reform.

The US Embassy congratulates Altin Duman for being selected as the next Chief Prosecutor of SPAK. All three candidates - Mr. Dumani, Adnan Xholi and Edvin Kondili - are highly qualified and deserve full respect for their efforts. We look forward to working closely with all of them.

To advance President Biden's Memorandum Designating the War on Corruption as a Core National Security Interest of the United States (June 2021), we will continue to support the implementation of justice reform. We look forward to supporting Mr. Dumani and SPAK as they continue their fight against corruption and organized crime. SPAK's work must continue to demonstrate that no one is above the law. The time of impunity is over. Justice reform is not only a condition for EU membership, it is a fair request of the Albanian people. The United States will always stand by the Albanian people.

We thank the High Council of Prosecution for a selection process which aimed to ensure the integrity of the process. It is essential for justice institutions to act with integrity, without fear or favour.

We greatly appreciate Mr. Kraja for his leadership and dedication as the Chief Prosecutor of SPAK. He laid a solid foundation upon which his successors can build.
