Fatah Melloul, who killed 23-year-old Albanian Klajdi Bitri with a fishing pole, has been sentenced by the Ancona Assize Court to 18 years in prison.
Prosecutor Marco Pucilli had requested 24 years in prison, but the black squads sentenced 28-year-old Fatah Melloul , accused of aggravated intentional murder, to 18 years behind bars.
He will also have to pay an amount of 40 thousand euros to the victim's parents.
The crime occurred on August 27, 2023, in via Cilea, in Sirolo.
The fight started over a traffic jam near a roundabout, according to Italian media, and involved friends and relatives of the victim (the 23-year-old's employer, his wife, and his brother were in two different cars).
After the argument, the 28-year-old returned to his car to retrieve the fishing pole and hit Klajdi Britri in the chest.
The young Albanian man died a few minutes later. The Algerian (who was with his girlfriend that day) fled the scene in a car.
He was arrested in Falconara a few hours after the crime, returning from fishing. The accused has always maintained that he did not realize he had killed her.
The crime occurred in front of the victim's brother, who declared at the time: " I want justice. I saw my brother die in front of me, killed with total indifference, without even understanding why."
Without having time to realize that he was dying. I saw him fade more and more, all of a sudden, and he no longer answered me because he was dead. He was not only my brother, he was also my father.
"He has always worked and only to bring me to Italy, for a more dignified life. "
