He killed his ex-son-in-law / The court sentences Mejit Picari to life in
Victim Kudret Saliaj / Dhurata Picari and Mejit Picari

The court has sentenced Mejit Picar, the author of the murder of his former son-in-law Kudret Saliaj, to life imprisonment.

While his daughter Dhurata (Picari) Saliaj was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

The murder took place in June 2021 in a bar near the Court of Tirana, where the divorce process between Kudret Saliaj and Dhurata Picari was taking place.

Although they should have been under house arrest for domestic violence, Mejit Picari and his daughter managed to escape by studying Saliaj's movements. He shot him while he was sitting in the bar, causing his death. Lawyer Adriatik Cama was also injured.

The prosecution concluded that the murder was committed in collaboration between Picari and his daughter. From the review of the film footage, it was found that Mejit Picari had put his hand into his daughter's bag from where he had taken the firearm.

Then he approached Saliaj and shot him as soon as he was sitting at the table together with lawyer Cama and they had ordered coffee.
