New details have emerged in the murder of Ilaria Sula, a 22-year-old Albanian woman in Italy. She was stabbed to death by her ex-boyfriend, Filipino Mark Antony Samson. The latter confessed to police in Rome that he took the Albanian woman's life and then tried to cover up the incident by stuffing her lifeless body into a suitcase and throwing it into a ditch.

According to the reconstruction of the dynamics of the event, the police say that the crime took place in his apartment, on Homs Street, where he lived with his parents. They are under investigation, as the investigators' goal is to clarify whether they had any role in the tragic event.

The young man has only said "I'm sorry for what I did", but nothing regarding the motive for the murder. Suspicions are that the incident may have happened the night she disappeared, on March 25. It is initially suspected of being a crime of passion. But investigators are working to find possible evidence that points to a premeditated murder.

After taking the life of the girl with whom he had been romantically involved for months, the 23-year-old Filipino put her body in a suitcase and took it to his car. From there, he drove to the Pola area, a city about 40 kilometers from Rome.

There he threw her into an abyss. He then returned to the Italian capital where he first threw the knife into a trash can and the victim's mobile phone into a well. Using Ilaria's phone, the 23-year-old tried to lead the investigation in the wrong direction. He deleted the victim's social media profiles and sent messages to her friends and family.

It was the 22-year-old's cellphone that led police to the perpetrator's home on Homs Street. They are now reviewing security camera footage that may have captured the young man trying to dispose of the body.

And while Ilaria Sula's family members were desperately searching for their daughter, Mark Antony Samson took some insidious actions. He tried to remove suspicions from himself by asking Ilaria's friends where his ex-girlfriend was. Not only that, but he sent them various messages, thinking they would believe he was still alive and would be back home soon.

"Ilaria was most likely dead when we became concerned that we couldn't find her. Her friends last saw her on Tuesday. I knew him [the perpetrator], they were together for a year, but they broke up," says the victim's brother, Leoni.

In recent days, the 23-year-old had also met with the girl's parents. Ilaria's father, Flamur, told an Italian show that he even hugged her.

"We met him at the police station on Sunday, we didn't know he had separated. He told us he was sorry and that he was worried about her disappearance. He seemed calm, he even gave me a hug," he said.

Flamur Sula also tells the moments when he last spoke to his daughter, but he was convinced that the messages were not from her.

"He wrote, 'Paçim ba', don't worry, I'm fine. I left with a boy and a girl. I'll be back in Terni in a month. Then he continued to say, don't worry, I'm fine. This made us suspicious because if it was our daughter, she would have written to us," he said.
