The Tirana court heard three testimonies in the trial against the minor accused of stabbing his peer Martin Cani.

A teacher, a security officer, and a municipal police officer recounted details about previous student conflicts at Fan Noli School, disputes that culminated in the murder of child Martin Cani.

Security officer Jetmira Kuka told the court that she had been told by school teacher Klodiana Saliasi about some students who had been talking in high tones and that they were having this conversation in the toilet. The officer testified that she had gone and seen that the students were no longer in the toilet and that she had called the student Martin Canaj.

According to her, the minor told her that he had spoken loudly and cursed her in general. But then M. Përlleshaj took it personally and they had an argument. "I called Përlleshaj and he explained to me that there was no problem between them and that they were fine," she is quoted as saying.

The accused was not present at the hearing while the trial was postponed to July 14. Judge Marinela Osmani has decided to notify the 14-year-old again as he is expected to be questioned or refuse the request to be questioned.

The murder of Martin Cani occurred on November 18, 2024, in Tirana, about 200 meters from the “Fan Noli” school. The conflict between the two teenagers had started three days earlier inside the school premises for weak motives. Although it had apparently died down, it flared up again inside the school.

The two minors clashed in the school toilets during the morning and argued violently, but were separated by a security guard. After class, accompanied by their friends, they met near the school, where the conflict escalated into a physical fight, ending with the murder of Martin and the injury of Luis Meçe.
