Astrit Kalasa's murder in the courtroom, investigations extended by three months

The investigation deadlines for the murder in the courtroom of Judge Astrit Kalaja have been extended by three months. This decision by the Tirana Prosecutor's Office was made because, according to it, several more actions are needed to fully unravel the incident.

On the other hand, the lawyer of the young man who shot Kalana, Elvis Shkambit, has opposed the decision of the District Council to approve the proposal to declare the late judge a "Martyr of the Fatherland". According to him, there is no sufficient legal basis to support this proposal.

We recall that Astrit Kalaja was killed in the courtroom on October 6 of last year, after a gunshot attack inside the Court of Appeal in Tirana, while he was conducting a court trial on a property issue involving the Shkambi family.

The family's son, Elvis Shkambi, shot the judge to death. On the afternoon of October 6, the perpetrator was arrested on charges of murdering Judge Astrit Kalaja and confessed to the crime.
