After suspending him two days ago, the Director General of the State Police, Skënder Hita, has dismissed the Director of the Durrës Police, Afrim Tafa. The reason for the dismissal, according to the chief police officer, is poor performance, reports A2CNN.
Tafa was suspended from duty two days ago after the serious accident in Durrës where 57-year-old Nikollë Radaçi, drunk at the wheel, fatally hit two children.
As part of the measures following the serious accident, today the State Police announced the return of patrols to the field to stop drivers violating road traffic rules.
In fact, on April 10, it was Hita himself who ordered the removal of patrols on interurban roads and ordered traffic police not to stop drivers.
Afrim Tafa led the Durrës Police for about 3 and a half months. He was appointed to the position by former police chief, Ilir Proda.
