Photos of the small plane in which Ermal Beqiri was flying to France, shortly before his arrest by French authorities, have been published.
In the photos published by the Shekulli newspaper, Beqiri is seen taking a selfie in front of the fighter jet, as well as a view from inside the vehicle.
The 44-year-old, wanted by Albanian authorities as part of the investigation into the AKSHI tender scandal, was arrested yesterday evening in France.
According to authorities, Beqiri was located and arrested in the city of Amiens, where he is currently in custody, awaiting further extradition procedures to Albania.
According to French media, his arrest occurred under unusual circumstances. Beqiri was piloting a small plane, which attracted the attention of authorities after flying over the Penly nuclear power plant, in the Seine-Maritime region.
During the flight, the aircraft descended to an altitude lower than the limit allowed for sensitive areas, which initially led to the intervention of the French Air and Space Forces, which then referred the matter to the French Gendarmerie.
"An Albanian citizen was detained after flying over a nuclear power plant in Normandy, France, at an altitude lower than the permitted limit," French media reported.
