A prisoner who received temporary leave from a prison in Turkey has killed his wife, 8-year-old daughter and his mother before taking his own life.

The serious incident occurred in Ankara and caused strong reactions in the country.

According to media reports, Recep Cengiz, 35, was serving a four-year sentence for fraud and threats with a weapon. He was on 11-day leave from a prison in Ankara.

After his temporary release, he traveled to the Ku?ca??z neighborhood of the capital, where he confronted his mother, Azize Cengiz, 57, and his 8-year-old daughter, Azra. After an argument, he allegedly shot them dead and then put their bodies in the trunk of his car.

Cengiz then went to the apartment of his estranged ex-wife, Beyzanur Uçan Cengiz. Disguised as a courier, he shot her dead on her doorstep. The 35-year-old then reportedly turned the gun on himself and committed suicide.

The motives for this tragedy still remain unclear, while the police have launched investigations to fully uncover the incident.

After the crime, it was revealed that Cengiz was initially held in a closed prison, but was later transferred to an open prison. It is also suspected that he had damaged the electrical installations in his wife's apartment in an attempt to avoid identification by security cameras.
