Shrinkage of students in Gjirokastra, many schools risk closing!

From year to year, a significant decline in the number of students enrolled in first or tenth grade is observed in Gjirokastra, putting many schools at risk of closure.

60% of preschool and pre-university education buildings have undergone restoration interventions.

Ylli Muho, director of the education department at the Municipality of Gjirokastra, said that restorations have been carried out on facades, the plumbing and electrical systems, etc., while the novelty for this year is the intervention and completion of the internal infrastructure of educational institutions.

In the territory of the Gjirokastër municipality, including the administrative units, there are a total of 26 educational buildings, many of which are in rural areas.
