Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today that the activities of the National Food Authority (AKU) should be immediately suspended, as according to him, this institution does more harm than good.
Rama made the comments during a meeting on Agriculture and Rural Development, where today was the first day of the dialogue with citizens, which will extend over time.
Rama stated that a special commission should be established to verify all human resources activities of the National Employment Agency.
"The AKU must be suspended, a special commission must be established to analyze all of the AKU's human resources, and the process of merging those different inspectorates must transition into a process of selecting human resources that will deal with inspections ," said Rama.
The head of government stated that the Agricultural University of Tirana should be part of this special commission.
"The Agricultural University of Tirana should be part of the commission, it should be invited to be part of it, to make a serious assessment of human resources," said Rama.
For the Prime Minister, the NFA has brought concerns not only to consumers, who are often faced with poor quality products that immediately affect their health, but also to all entrepreneurs and all those who are part of the agricultural sector.
"The NFA is the biggest concern, instead of being the biggest and most important partner. It is the biggest concern of all entrepreneurs who are in the agricultural sector. But it is also a concern for all restaurants, for all cafes.
"It does more harm than good, " he said.
Rama also called on Finance Minister Petrit Malaj, who was part of the discussions there. The head of government told Malaj to immediately issue a decision to suspend the activities of the National Agency for Employment.
"So, the AKU, the minister, should issue a decision to suspend the activity of the AKU. Totally. It should no longer exist!" , Rama emphasized.
