Deaths in Albania have returned to the level before the pandemic. According to the latest data from the Institute of Statistics, all counties have recorded lower numbers of deaths compared to last year.

However, in absolute terms, Tirana, Fieri and Korça have the highest number of lives lost in the first months of this year. Accordingly, in three months, 1358 deaths in Tirana, 617 in Fier and 545 in Korça, Klan News reports.

In addition to the high number of the population, this high number of deaths in these three counties is related to the increase in morbidity in the population as well as the third age group.

In total, 5,557 people lost their lives in Albania in the first three months of this year, 32% less than the quarter of 2022 where 8,119 deaths were recorded.

While during one year in Albania, nearly 24 thousand people have lost their lives, from nearly 31 thousand that were registered at the peak of the pandemic in 2021.
