The ultimatum given by the Albanian government for the departure of Iranian diplomats from Albania, after the decision to cut off diplomatic relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, has ended.

The departure of the embassy staff started last night at dinner, while during the morning there were increased movements in the premises of the building. During the morning hours, private vehicles were noticed entering there, leaving with files and other packaged items.

During the morning, the RENEA forces, anti-terror agents and anti-explosive forces agents were stationed around the building, who are conducting an inspection of it and an inventory of the documents that will be found there, as well as the removal of state symbols on the exterior facade of the building. .

Diplomatic relations between Albania and Iran have been tense over the last few years, also influenced by the accommodation of the Iranian mujahedin in our country, who have settled in their camp in Manza in Durrës. This decision of Albania also led to the deterioration of relations between the two countries, followed by the expulsion of diplomats.

Since 2018, Albania has expelled 5 people who are part of the Iranian diplomatic corps in our country.
Meanwhile, in the Special Court, a trial is taking place against an Iranian citizen who is suspected of planning to organize a terrorist attack in the Mujahideen camp in Manza. On July 22, Iran's exiled opposition announced the postponement of a summit to be held in the camp, following reports of possible terrorist attacks.
