He had returned after 20 years of emigration to the United States to grow old in his village, but a quarrel with his neighbor took the life of 65-year-old Safet Hyskollari. The serious incident took place in the village of Gështenjas in Pogradec, while the perpetrator was identified as Fatmir Manellari, 63 years old, who left after the crime and was wanted.

According to eyewitnesses, the victim, Safet Hyskollari, was rehabilitating the road through which he entered the apartment and had placed several discharge pipes, which the perpetrator Fatmir Manellari claimed were inserted into his land. That was enough to start a verbal conflict between them, where the 63-year-old author, in a fit of rage, shot his neighbor four times with a knife, causing his death.

Residents of the area say that they had never heard of a previous conflict between the victim and the perpetrator. The event was very unexpected even for the author's family, who got the news from the journalists who went to the scene. Meanwhile, the police have started the investigation for 63-year-old Fatmir Manellari, who is suspected to have left in the direction of the forest with Gështenja.
