An Albanian was arrested in the Dominican Republic after allegedly trying to traffic cocaine.
The National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) said the Albanian was detained after an X-ray of his luggage revealed drugs hidden inside the bags.
Upon opening the first suitcase, several clothes and a backpack were found, with 19 packages of cocaine. From the control in the second suitcase, another backpack with 21 packages of cocaine was discovered.
The Public Prosecutor's Office and the DNCD have launched an investigation to determine if there are other people involved in the failed drug shipment in Madrid, Spain, while the 29-year-old man was handed over to the police for prosecution.
The DNCD also seized a bag containing $36,100 in Dominican pesos and an iPhone belonging to the Albanian.
