From " La Repubblica "/ Thousands of protesters gathered again today in Tirana in front of the offices of Prime Minister Edi Rama to protest against the construction of a $1.6 billion luxury resort, writes the Italian newspaper "La Repubblica".

According to her, the project, supported by Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump's Affinity Partners fund, will be built in a protected natural area and on the former military island of Sazan.

Activists, who took to the streets with inflatable flamingos in the so-called "Flamingo Revolution," denounce the destruction of the local ecosystem and the lack of transparency in permits.

The protests - which have been ongoing for more than a week - were sparked by the first appearance of bulldozers and fences in the coastal area and the viral spread of a video showing an activist being forcibly removed by private security guards.
