Rama condemns in English the incident with the LGBT flag at the protest: This is not the Albania we are building

Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted on social media after an episode recorded during the protest held in Tirana, where a protester faced opposition after carrying an LGBT community flag.

Sharing a video from the protest, where calls can be heard for the flag to be removed and where a participant appears to be targeted because of the symbol he was carrying, the head of government condemned the behavior towards the young man and expressed solidarity with him.

"This is not the Albania we believe in and it is certainly not the Albania we are building as a proud member of the European family," Rama wrote in English in his reaction.

The Prime Minister expresses full solidarity with the protester, emphasizing that no one should face exclusion or humiliation because of differences.

"Full solidarity with the boy who was bullied. No human being should be humiliated, excluded or subjected to attacks just because they are different," Rama writes in English, seemingly wanting the message to reach international audiences.

At the end of his message, Rama criticized the people who, according to him, exerted pressure on the protestors, writing: "Shame on the bullies."

The prime minister's reaction comes at a time when the debate over tourism investment projects in Zvërnec has brought about massive protests.

Rama's attention was focused on the incident recorded during the protest and not on the cause of the rally itself.
