By order of SPAK, the General Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, Joana Duro, and her subordinate Laura Sheto, a specialist in co-governance, were arrested yesterday on charges of corruption.
It is suspected that Duro took a bribe of 4 million lek and was also under investigation for a tender of 2 million euros.
The Health Officer, Duro, was fined by the Chief Commissioner of the CEC, Ilirjan Celibashi, during the electoral campaign for the local elections of May 14, after violating the electoral code, using the official page of the institution on Facebook, distributing political slogans of the Socialist Party.
Prime Minister Edi Rama announced the arrest of Joana Duros a little while ago during the thanksgiving meeting in Tirana, where he said that a general secretary was caught red-handed taking money.
