A postal agent has been arrested by the Korça Police, after being accused of committing illegal activity in the field of fraud with serious consequences.

As part of the "Postmail" operation, citizen Alma Beqiraj , 46 years old, living in Korça , was handcuffed  .

After a 2-month investigation, it turned out that she benefited from significant monetary sums, by not collecting the payments of customers who received the postal service, from the private company in which she was employed as a private postal services agent.

"From the in-depth investigative actions, it results that this citizen, during the period 2021-2023, in which she exercised the function of private postal services agent in Korça and Pogradec, is suspected to have embezzled the amount of 3,000,000 euros through fraud. The 46-year-old, acting as an agent of private postal services, he distributed various postal packages, for the account of third parties, and the monetary sums he collected from customers, he did not pour into the account of the selling commercial entities, nor to the company that performed this service."it is said in the announcement of the blues of Korça.

Police authorities report that Alma Beqiraj allegedly invested the significant amount of money she received in the purchase of real estate and commercial businesses, on behalf of herself and her family members.

As material evidence, the police seized two vehicles, used by the 46-year-old woman.

The police announce that the work continues to identify and bring to the fore the legal responsibility of other citizens, suspected to be involved in this fraud scheme.

The materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of Korçë General Jurisdiction, for further action.
