Russian military bloggers have reported that a Russian Su-25 attack aircraft crashed on Friday, June 13.
Russian blogger Tumanov, who runs the aviation Telegram channel Fighterbomber, reported on the crash and said the pilot was successfully rescued and is safe. The cause of the incident and the exact location of the crash were not disclosed.
Another Russian channel on Telegram, Aviahub, also confirmed the loss and noted that the plane was not shot down by enemy fire.
The Military Publication notes that the Russian Su-25 fleet, which is on average about 40 years old, is experiencing an increasing number of technical failures and extraordinary incidents. During Russia's war in Ukraine, many Su-25 losses have been the result of non-combat accidents.
For example, in March this year, a Su-25 was lost during a training flight in Russia's Primorsky Krai after, according to Tumanov, both engines reportedly failed mid-flight.
The possibility that the Russian plane was mistakenly shot down by another Russian plane cannot be ruled out.
A video appeared showing the crash of the Russian Su-25 that was reported earlier today.

It was shot down by friendly fire as the aircraft was trying to launch missiles at Ukraine. https://t.co/p1UjWBlKDX pic.twitter.com/rDJDtEDwDT
