The Special Court has restarted after a year the trial for the kidnapping and murder of Jan Prenga, where the accused are Dritan Rexhepi and six other citizens, who are accused in the form of a structured criminal group.
Dritan Rexhepi, Gentjan Funiqi, Marti Bleta, Korado Keshteja, Artan Doçaj, Aldo Majnishta and Geraldo Martini are accused of the criminal offenses "Kidnapping or hostage-taking of a person" resulting in death, "Unauthorized possession of combat weapons", "Hiding and destroying Of the corpse", "Structured criminal group" and "Commitment of criminal offenses by criminal organization and structured criminal group".
Jan Prenga was kidnapped on January 17, 2020 in Kamëz and since that day there has been no trace of him. During the trial, footage of a resort in the Shijak area where Jan Prenga was tortured to death was published, while his body is still unknown today after three years. The cause is suspected to be the theft of a large amount of drugs from his brother in England, which belonged to Dritan Rexhepi.
However, a year ago the trial was suspended because Dritan Rexhepi, Gentjan Funiqi, Marti Bleta, Korado Keshteja, Artan Doçaj, Aldo Majnishta and Geraldo Martini had not learned about the trial against them, because they are abroad.
The only one convicted for this serious event is the citizen Festim Bixhdili, the gardener of the resort in the Shijak area where Jan Prenga was tortured to death. He took the victim's body in a van and refused to tell the court where he took it, so the Special Court sentenced him to life imprisonment.
