"Rama knew that Veliaj would be arrested", Milaim Zeka: People close
Edi Rama/ Melaim Zeka/ Erion Veliaj

In the podcast " Të Pashoq " on the "Pamflet" YouTube channel, journalist and analyst Milaim Zeka was invited, who spoke about the arrest of Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj.

According to him, Rama's reactions to Veliaj are false and he adds that the prime minister knew that the mayor would be arrested.

Zeka further emphasized that Rama has warned of Veliaj's arrest through people close to him who work as analysts in the media, while mentioning the case of Baton Haxhiu.

"If Rama's advisors have appeared in television studios, we know who the advisors of politicians who present themselves as independent analysts are. If in the studios, Baton Haxhiu and others have attacked Veliaj, we have known and expected Erion's arrest," said Zeka.

Excerpts from the studio conversation:

What about Prime Minister Edi Rama's reactions immediately after Veliaj's arrest?

Zeka: Very hypocritical reactions seemed to me. Because Rama should have reacted the way I reacted, when Safet Gjici was arrested and convicted. Let a journalist or politician come out, let him confront me and tell me what criminal offense Safet Gjici committed. He was convicted of abuse of office, for doing s*x in the office. Or let's move on to the case of Salianj, why was that man convicted? Why didn't Rama react and show himself as a true statesman.

He reacted, but did the opposite, he rejoiced at the punishment.

Zeka: He may be happy, but tomorrow someone will be happy when Edi Rama is arrested. Because when you make someone else's cake, you eat that cake too. Because Ervin was convicted without any argument. I still don't know what criminal offense Slaianji committed. Plus, when he went to the press conference, he was with Basha and others. He denounced an audio, because he is not an expert.

Are you saying that Rama's stance is hypocritical at best?

Zeka: Too late in my opinion.

Rama is actually a bad guy for Veliaj, isn't he?

Zeka: I don't know, I don't believe them. I'm starting from another argument, Rama's people have been attacking the mayor for a while.

Does Rama's imprisonment suit Veliaj?

Zeka: If Rama's advisors have appeared in television studios, we know who the advisors of politicians who present themselves as independent analysts are. If Baton Haxhiu and others have attacked Velaij in the studio, we have known and expected Erion's arrest.

So Rama's reaction is acting?

Zeka: Acting, pure acting, because he was attacked by Edi Rama's closest people. He goes out there in vain and acts as if the news of the arrest came to him like a bolt from the blue. No, he knew it very well.
