The General Director of the State Police Muhamet Rrumbullaku has suspended the Director of the Road Police, Altin Qato, after the latter was filmed shooting a citizen.

"We clarify the public opinion that the citizens who appear in the video were not part of the protest that was being held by the residents of the area on the Thumane-Kashar road axis, but were traveling with their vehicle in the direction of Tirana, performing maneuvers on the road and opposing and insulting the employees of the Traffic Police, who advised them to slow down and stay in line until the movement was normalized. Even after being advised by the Road Police employees, these citizens have continued to listen to the vehicle's sound system without stopping, causing concern to other road users and their irritation at the same time", the police point out.

Citizens EQ, 36 years old, and Gj.K, 36 years old, were escorted to the Police premises and at the end of the actions they were prosecuted for "Disobedience to the order of the public order police officer".

The State Police remains determined to implement the law and to respect the basic rights and freedoms of citizens, not allowing any case of their violation without being legally punished.

In the meantime, we ask for the understanding of citizens and road users to follow the rules and instructions of the police authorities in cases where there is a slowdown or blockage of the movement of vehicles for various reasons.
