Another important point that Proda touched on in his statement was double parking on the street, emphasizing that it will no longer be considered a purely administrative “minor violation”, but as a blockage of the passage of vehicles that violates the safety of citizens and forcibly limits their right to move freely. Now, Proda says that double parking will be treated as a criminal offense based on Article 293 of the Criminal Code, which provides for a fine or imprisonment of up to three years.
"Double parking on the street will no longer be considered a purely administrative "minor violation", but as a blockage of the passage of vehicles that violates the safety of citizens and forcibly restricts their right to move freely. Police structures will carry out investigative actions by treating double parking as a criminal offense based on Article 293 of the Criminal Code.
"This ugly and dangerous phenomenon will be undone, at all costs. With all due respect to drivers, the city is primarily for pedestrians and despite understanding the difficulties of parking, the road is for circulation, not for parking in the middle of it," said Proda.
