Two Italians and three Albanians have been arrested by the Carabinieri as they were suspected of being the authors of an ambush with a gun, which happened on June 18.

Two people, an Italian and a foreigner, were riding a scooter in Sanremo, on the Dutch road, when they were wounded by gunfire. The police found two shell casings at the scene.

Those arrested are accused of serious injury with premeditation.

According to investigators, the incident may be related to the drug world.

Investigations began after the carabinieri were notified that two people had appeared in the emergency room with gunshot wounds.

After the collected evidence, the carabinieri traced the schedules, vehicles, itineraries and relationships between the persons involved. The security footage was crucial to the capture of the 5 suspected perpetrators.

A prison sentence has been requested for the five arrested persons.

The cause of the event

Those arrested are Angelo Bonfiglio, 56, and Riccardo Berrica, 19, both from Ceriana, and three Albanian roommates living in Ceriana: Fernando (aka Romeo) Shemuni, 35; Klodian Kola, 32 years old and Enea Dema, 34 years old, writes Ansa.

Investigations were carried out following surveillance of security cameras and wiretapping.

Investigators found that the five arrested had stopped at the edge of the Dutch road in a Fiat Doblò van, driven by Bonfiglio, and had waited for the scooter to pass.
