The driver of the vehicle that killed 40-year-old Florant Pllana yesterday afternoon at around 18:25 on the road axis Pogradec-Qafë Plloçë and drove away leaving his dead body on the road, has been arrested after 24 hours by the police.

The blues of the southeastern city have fully revealed the circumstances and dynamics of the tragic accident in the place called "Ura e Leshnica", handcuffing 38-year-old Gentjan Capo, from the village of Gështenjas.

The police clarify that intensive investigations and checks in the entire area along the Pogradec-Korçë national axis, using drones, led to the identification of the "Volkswagen" type vehicle involved in the accident and the discovery of the driver.

"Following the preliminary information provided yesterday, where a 40-year-old FP citizen was found dead on the road axis "Korçë-Pogradec", at the place called "Ura e Leshnica", and it was initially suspected of a road accident, the investigative team under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, investigative actions continued to identify the driver of the vehicle that caused the accident. After an intensive work done by the Traffic Police Sector, since yesterday evening with surveillance of the cameras located on the Korçë-Pogradec road axis, controls with drones and binoculars of the territory of the villages and inhabited areas around the location of the accident and the information of taken on the operational road, it became possible to locate the "Volkswagen" type vehicle involved in this road event through the drone around 16:40. The driver of the vehicle, citizen GC, 38 years old, resident in the village of Gështenjas, Pogradec, was also identified. The Police Services caught and escorted the GC citizen to the Police Station, who was arrested for the criminal offenses "Violation of traffic rules" and "Leaving the scene of the accident", while the vehicle was seized as material evidence, the police informs .
