The health of the Archbishop of Albania, Anastasios Janullatos, has deteriorated and he is in critical condition.

This was reported by the Greek daily Protothema, explaining that Janullatos has been hospitalized since Friday afternoon at the "Evangelismos" hospital in Athens.

The health of the Archbishop of Albania deteriorated on Saturday evening, while the hospital's medical team, led by Professor of Pulmonology and Intensive Care, Anastasia Kotanidou, continues to monitor him.

Before being hospitalized in Evangelismos, the 95-year-old, who has a complicated medical history, had shown symptoms of a seasonal virus.

He was initially admitted to a hospital in Tirana.

However, doctors reported that after his health deteriorated, it was decided to urgently transfer him to Greece to receive specialized medical care.

The Orthodox Church itself has been tight-lipped about the case of Janullatos and only after the Greek media made public the archbishop's health, did they issue an announcement about his condition.

On January 4, the Church announced that he had gone to Athens for treatment and that his condition was stable at that time.

But the health of the Archbishop of Albania has deteriorated in the last 24 hours.
