After more than two years in prison, Besmir Gjezari has left his cell and says he will launch a legal battle to prove his innocence.
Gjezari was sentenced to 5 years in prison on charges of producing and selling narcotics, but claims that he was unjustly convicted and that unfounded charges were brought against him.
He says that while serving his sentence he has stayed away from his family, claiming that he has also been denied the right to meet his minor child.
According to him, the person responsible for the situation is judicial police officer Mariglen Beqo, against whom he warns that he will demand an investigation and justice.
"I have been accused of narcotics, production and sale of narcotics. I have been sentenced to five years in prison. I served two years and seven months. And I have not been caught with anything. I have been unjustly convicted by the Korça Prosecutor's Office and the Court, and I have this from the judicial police officer, Mariglen Beqo. He has a tendency.
It started with him. And he has taken my family and I have been here for two years and a half and I can't see my family. I will seek justice and this is just the beginning. As soon as I get out, I will start everything from scratch.
I have not met my family because the prosecutor did not allow it. That issue that I did not have, and this influence was from the judicial police officer to unjustly take away my meeting, the right to the child. Because I have a minor child, aged 3, and I have left him for almost a year, a year or so, and I have not met him, I have not seen him. From the injustices that the judicial police officer, Mariglen Beqo, has done to me.
He has also received pressure and threats from people in the justice system, and I feel very threatened and endangered, as do my family.
I am threatened with life, as are my family. They have returned my personal belongings. For what, the judicial police officer, because I don't know and I still don't understand why, the reason. What has the lack of meeting with my family for two years here, the meetings with my people affected? I don't understand what the vaki has done here. And to take away my child's rights unjustly, because the judicial police officer is affected. For what reason? He knows that, and we will seek this through justice. Yes, normal, yes, normal. I am a family man, I have a minor child, I have my own business, and I want to devote myself to my family," he said.
