Xhemal Loka has been sentenced to 10 years in prison by the Durrës court, after being found guilty of causing the suicide of his wife Bedrie Loka and possessing a weapon without a permit.

During the trial, where the couple's children also testified, it turned out that the reason that pushed Bedrie Lokë to poison herself in her apartment on January 2, 2024, was the physical and psychological violence that her husband exerted against her.

Xhemal Loka requested a summary trial, but prosecutor Pranvera Gruda opposed the request and the court later dismissed it.

Pandeli, Xhimi and Mahmut Bushi, the victim's three brothers, have stated that their sister committed suicide due to the systematic violence that her husband had been exerting since 2000.

The children also testified against their father, explaining the barbaric violence that Xhemal Loka inflicted on their mother.

One of the children stated that the night before his mother poisoned herself, he argued with his father for several hours.

"Dad wouldn't let mom visit her mother. They had a heated argument on January 1 that lasted from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.," the son testified.

He also said that his father threatened his mother over the phone, and on one occasion he even said: "I'll make you kill yourself." The little boy also made several videos of his father raping Bedrien, threatening and insulting him.

The family's only daughter has admitted that her mother is raped and that on one occasion she told her that she would end her life because she was tired.

The couple's other son recounted in court a moment when his father came from Greece and clashed with his mother, kicking and punching her.

Based on the evidence, as well as other data obtained from the examination of the phones, the court has reached the conclusion that Xhemal Loka forced her to end her life, after experiencing continuous physical violence.

During the trial, the prosecution found that Xhemal Loka also abused the children, who revealed shocking details of how he treated them.

For this reason, a new investigation has been opened against Xhemal Lokë for domestic violence against his children.

The defendant, meanwhile, claims that his wife poisoned herself after she could not stand the pressure she was under because a TikTok address had been opened in her name and she was being insulted, something for which Bedrie Loka had filed a police report.
