A serious incident shook the country yesterday (July 24) when it was revealed that 26-year-old Emanilda Rama had strangled her father with a wire and reported his death as accidental.

The crime occurred on the evening of July 23, where the girl had stated that her father had fallen in the bathroom, but the marks on the victim's throat revealed the shocking truth.

The 26-year-old's sister (the victim's other daughter) recounted the moment when Emanilda called her to tell her that her father, Anesti Rama, had collapsed.

She said that after this, the 26-year-old hung up her cell phone and called her mother Valbona Rama (arrested as an accomplice in the murder after cleaning the victim's body to hide it), who confirmed that her father was dead.

"My sister called me and told me that my dad had fallen in the bathroom, then she turned off the phone, I called my mom and asked her if she was alive? No, she said she was dead, I talked to her often on the phone, I didn't see anything, I didn't understand a single thing, I always talked to my dad," she told TCH.

The 56-year-old's daughter added that her father lived at home with her sister and mother.

The village headman said that the victim's mother and daughter were raped, and that they were also left without food. He even added that Anesti Rama had told him that they wanted to throw him out of the house.

"Anesti was a good, hardworking man, but he had family problems with his wife and children. Things weren't going well. He would end up being left without food, and he would complain to me. 'They want to throw me out of the house,' he would tell me. They were receiving economic assistance, and I helped them."

Who knows how many times the police went to their house. I didn't know anything, when I went near the apartment they were the crime scene. They said he had had a heart attack, but they had strangled him. We all felt sorry for him, because he was a quiet, hardworking guy. They didn't treat him well. The victim worked in a private firm.

He just complained, poor thing. They beat him, they hit me in the eye. What can I say... that poor thing ate, drank, slept and worked. We are very touched as a village. There are three brothers here. One of them took him to Greece where he worked there and built a house. The family told him, 'Get out of the house, we don't want you,'"  said the headman of the village of Frashër in Fier.
