'Under money laundering charges', Italian media on Igli Tara:
Igli Tare after leaving SPAK

Former national team footballer Igli Tare has been placed under investigation by SPAK as part of the Belinda Balluku file.

The news has also attracted the attention of Italian media, which are writing that the former Milan sporting director is facing difficult times.

"These are complicated weeks for Igli Taren, who recently left Milan after just one year. The 52-year-old is being investigated in his home country on money laundering charges, as part of an investigation involving former Albanian Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, who is accused of violating tender procedures.

"The Albanian Special Prosecutor's Office against Organized Crime and Corruption (SPAK) is investigating the incident and is said to have also put the former Lazio player under investigation for corruption ," writes Tgcom .

The article highlights that Tare was questioned for 6 hours and according to SPAK's investigations, Balluku could not have registered the two-story villa in the south of the country in her name and to hide the wealth, SPAK says that she used former footballer Igli Tare and a subordinate of hers at Albcontrol.

“Tare was questioned for six hours. The investigation is still ongoing and the link between the former Milan manager and Balluk is said to be a villa on the Ionian coast of Albania. The villa was allegedly offered to the former deputy prime minister as a bribe for a contract awarded to a construction company when he was a manager at the air traffic control company Albcontrol. To cover up the operation, the property was registered in the name of Igli Tare, with the latter allegedly drawing up “a fictitious rental agreement with Balluk’s former chief of staff”. According to investigators, Tare’s villa is therefore owned by Balluk, who is suspected of having used it over the years. It should be remembered that these are only alleged allegations, which will have to be proven in the subsequent stages of the investigation,” the article further writes.
