The detainees in the "Metamorphosis" case

The court process for the much-discussed "Metamorphosis" case has begun amid absences and debate over holding the session behind closed doors.

The defendants Pëllumb Gjoka, Asmer Bilali and Xhevahir Lita were absent from the session, while Behar Bajri, Edmond Preka, Ardit Hasanbegaj and Oltion Bistri were present.

Due to a family emergency, Edmond Preka's lawyer was not present. Ardit Hasanbegaj's legal counsel was also absent due to health reasons.

During the hearing, defendant Behar Bajri (also known as Behar Bajrovic) requested that the trial be held behind closed doors, arguing that the media had prejudiced him.

SPAK opposed this request, stating that the legal conditions do not exist to conduct the trial behind closed doors, and the GJKKO dismissed the request.

Meanwhile, the next session was decided to take place on January 30, 2025.
