Mystery ends: This is the gender of boxer Imane Cliffe according to official documents

Algerian boxer Imane Cliffe is one of the most controversial names of the Paris 2024 Olympics.

After defeating Italian boxer Angela Carini, social media erupted allegations that Cliff was "transgender" or a man who pretended to be a woman.

Those doubts were reinforced even more when the world boxing federation said it had expelled him a year ago after failing "gender tests."

The Olympic Committee rejected the claims and said that the rumours about her gender were untrue and unfounded.

Her father has also been forced to show his birth certificate to prove that his child is a girl and has never been identified as a boy.

Appearing on French TV station BFMTV, he said: "My baby is a girl. She grew up as a girl. She's a strong girl. I raised her to work hard and be brave. She has a strong will to work and train."
