British media: Albanian bosses transport hundreds of millions of pounds from

Albanian criminal gangs are growing in the UK and send hundreds of millions of pounds of criminal proceeds to Albania every year.

British media reports that a number of different businesses are often used to launder money, but most criminal funds are simply returned to Albania by hand or by vehicle.

In recent seizures, £300,000 was found in luggage at a UK airport bound for the Albanian capital, Tirana. In another case, border officers found £500,000 hidden in a van at a UK port. Albanian crime groups now control the majority of cannabis farms across the UK.

In recent years, Albanian criminals have taken over a large part of the cannabis trade from Vietnamese criminal groups. Most of the criminal activity involving cannabis farms is concentrated in the northernmost areas. But in almost every part of the country, Albanians are the dominant group involved in the cultivation of cannabis.

GB News reported on a specialist police unit in Suffolk recently, where officers said most of the criminals using the streets in that district for drug crime, there were Albanians.

In the south of the country, Albanian criminal groups still control most of the cocaine trade. The sources said that the cannabis trade was largely independent among Albanian criminals, but the cocaine trade was largely overseen by crime bosses in Albania.

Across the UK, there have recently been a number of arrests of Albanians suspected of being involved in people smuggling through the canals. The British media writes that many Albanians who arrive in Great Britain in small boats are under the instruction of criminal gangs and a large part end up working for those criminal networks.
