The court decided today the release from prison of the former Minister of the Interior, Saimir Tahiri, and he will serve the remainder of 1 year, 8 months and 15 days at home.

His lawyer, Maks Haxhia, in a statement to the media, revealed that a person with a significant criminal record, when he was released from prison, expressed regret to Saimir Tahir who was still serving his sentence. "I'm ashamed that I get out of prison and you stay." were the words, according to lawyer Maks Haxhia, with which he addressed Saimir Tahir.

Journalist Klodiana Lala said that it is about Safet Bajri, a person involved in drug trafficking, with whom it is said that the former minister shared a cell. Safet Bajri, accused as one of the leaders of the criminal groups in Shkodër, was released on bail from Fier prison at the end of April.

"Safet Bajri, a dangerous person, who was in a cell with Tahir said; I am sorry that I am going home and the former Minister of the Interior is in prison. I must have an index that is a political decision. Crime bosses, or politicians and former officials serve their sentences to the end. Once a crime boss, Mr. Haxhia was the lawyer of the case, he was released because he had knee problems. And he was released from prison because his knee pain prevented him from staying in prison. There may be something behind it, but is there a pact? I cant tell. I have to have facts,"  said the journalist.
