"You made me a warrior and a resister!", the touching poem for Jakup
Jakup Krasniqi

The Hague Court sentenced Jakup Krasniqi to 25 years in prison two days ago, and the most heartbroken by this was of course his family, who had been waiting for him to return home from detention for 6 years.

And during his stay there, a poem written in the form of an imaginary conversation with his mother seems to have become a comfort to the liberator of Kosovo.

It was his eldest daughter Gresa Krasniqi who, in an interview with journalist Kristi Gongo on Top Channel, made this poem public.

In handwritten verses, Krasniqi asks his mother not to worry about him, as he recounts the difficulties he is going through. Meanwhile, he finds a way to give himself courage for what he is going through through his mother's "response" in poetry.

"I ask you not to worry at all.
How many difficult storms I have gone through,
because you, O MOTHER, made me a warrior and a resolute person," Krasniqi writes, among other things.

As he further imagines his mother encouraging him: "With all my heart, Mother, I wish you victory in this fight."

The full poem:

My mother!

I ask You not to worry at all
How many difficult storms I have gone through
Because You, O MOTHER, made me a warrior and a resolute person
To You I bow for this noble upbringing
That never let me be humbled
I never bowed before any difficulty in life
This "democracy" has nothing true
Than the others that I spent in "prison" and "talk"
I overcome this easily and smiling
Because I had you as a generous, brave and Sokol Mother
You taught me to face the odds
And for sublime victories you even sacrificed me!

I am a son!

The life of every person everywhere is a match
It depends on the education that a person takes with them
In your life you were tested very early You passed
all the difficulties with honor
Every time you faced fierce enemies
With a mother's heart I wish you victory in this match
So that you return to your Republic as soon as possible
To proudly close the work you did!
