The registration process for over 10,000 real estates in Gjirokastër is
Artan Lame in Gjirokastra

Gjirokastra was the next station of the Albanian Cadastre in the process of registering properties for the first time. The General Director of Cadastre, Artan lame was in Gjirokastër to issue the first certificates of ownership for the 18 September Neighborhoods, the new neighborhoods of the city, the Gërhot area and beyond including the Viroi Resource Area.

Girokastra belongs to those cities in which the initial registration of properties was never completed since the years of Independence. Moreover, this process had not been carried out even in the new neighborhoods of the city built during the decades of the period before 1990.

A project for this purpose, started with the World Bank many years ago, was left in the middle to be followed up only in recent years.

Lame said that: "Medieval cities are a nightmare in the registration process, but also a necessary service for their salvation". This, because without carrying out this process it is almost impossible for them to be able to benefit from the programs of recovery, restoration, credit, revitalization and so on.

The same complex problems have been encountered in recent years in the initial registration in the Kala District in Elbasan, in Himare, in Berat, etc.

The last cadastral area that has already completed the initial registration, Area 8541, contains 10,100 private and public properties, which bring the number of registered properties of the three areas of the city to over 20,000.
